Courses

Here at Climbing School New Brunswick we are proud to offer a variety of courses and programs to suit a wide range of experience. Whether you are completely new to climbing or looking to expand and sharpen existing skills we taylor our courses to your experience level and goals. Our programs are divided into three main categories as described below.

Rock Experience

 

The Rock Experience course is designed for the novice climber. This is the recommended course for first time climbers who simply want to give rock climbing a try. This course provides enough instruction to let the client become familar with the equipment and systems involved but is primarly focused on allowing the client to get on the rock and do some climbing!

Instruction Series

 

The Instruction Series is a program designed to facilitate the novice climber's climbing development from a competent toprope climber to a solid leader. This program is composed of three areas of compentency: toprope, second and lead. 

 

Toprope Series - This series consists of three full day instructional courses (24 hours) and is designed to teach the fundamentals of competent rigging and risk management. These courses are sure to reinforce the fundamentals and give you some new methods for streamling the rigging of bomber toprope systems. Second - This series is designed for the climber who has sharpened their skills toproping and wants to take the next step. Learning to follow a solid mentor is the best way to progress to becoming a competent leader and multi pitch climber. These skills bring a new level of excitement and freedom to the sport. This series will provide a more in depth look at: terrain assessment, equipment selection, belaying, rappelling and basic rescue skills. These courses will also address anchor cleaning and gear removal. The second will have ample opportunity to see how a competent leader approaches and protects numerous climbs. Paying attention to these deatils and asking questions will set you up for the Lead Series. Single full day courses can be arranged based on experience level contact us for details.

 

Lead - This series is designed for climbers who are ready to take that critical step of gaining the independence that comes with being a compentent lead climber. Taking the "Sharp End", as it is known, can be a daunting task that comes with tremendous rewards but also significant risk and challenge. This series will teach the climber: route selection, solid gear placement, fall factors, protecting the second, avoiding a fiasco, route finding, avoiding rope drag, equipment management and falling. Single full day courses can be arranged based on experience level contact us for details.

Guided Classics

 

Already have experience? Looking for a tour of our local gems? We offer a guided classics service. Let us know what you have in mind or what we would recommend and we provide the rest. After a brief consultation on experience level and goals we can get started and show you the best climbs the province has to offer. You will not be disappointed New Brunswick has many terrific classics at any grade.
